About Candyroot Lodge: Candyroot Lodge sits on a rare stretch of naturally sandy land in the South Carolina Sandhills. It will feature multiple golf courses, each walkable, thoughtfully designed, and shaped by the land itself. It’s a place to play great golf, spend time outdoors, and stay connected to the people you come with. Candyroot’s first course is defined by extreme minimalism—no dirt hauled, no fairways forced, only the land revealed. Draped across a descending aeolian sandhill, the routing rides sandy ridges and weaves through natural gullies, amplifying the property’s dramatic macro-slope. The greens are intentionally small and old-school, with intersecting slopes that create visual misdirection and confounding reads. Bunkering is restrained, grassing lines twist and bob along the contours, and the native landforms provide most of the consequence. This is a thinker’s course—one that rewards imagination, trajectory control, and feel.
